Liars!

My husband is a liar... well I guess it was for a good reason. :) He and my best friend Adrienne surprised me last weekend. I haven't seen her in a while and have been missing her terribly. She and I can talk for hours on the phone but rarely get to talk in person. Last weekend I was at my in-laws house and low-and-behold in walks Adrienne. I stood in amazement as I stared at this familiar face but it just didn't make sense in my in-law's house. It took a minute to register and then I almost dropped my child! HA! I know call me Brittney Spears. I think I hugged Adrienne so hard she probably has bruises. :) We sat and talked for a long time and just got to catch up. She is a wonderful friend and totally LIED to me the day before on the phone about her plans for Friday night. All that to say, I'm so glad that Josh and Adrienne planned this most wonderful surprise and I'm grateful that the truth is not in them, not even a tiny bit. :)
The part I loved the best was that she just fit right in with my family. She loved on Josh's grandparents and ate that wonderful southern cookin' like it was her mom's recipe. Thank you Adrienne for making my MONTH! You are an incredible friend and thank you for loving my son! I think your the person that got the quickest smile so far. Blessings!

Smiles

This past weekend we visited Grammy and Grampy (Josh's parents) for the first time in Decatur, TX. His photo shoot (birth announcements) was on Saturday and we hope to get some incredible pictures for keepsakes. I took this picture tonight. Isn't he ADORABLE?? He's really starting to smile and this picture catches the very end of one. I hope this post makes YOU smile. Have a great day.

PS. The favorite nicknames from the poll ended up being Sweet T and T Bone. :)

How beautiful

"How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those that bring good news...". - Isaiah 52:7

I pray that my son will bring the good news to thousands. I pray that he will use his voice to tell others about Christ Jesus and his saving grace. I pray that he will be bold in his future high school, college and beyond. I want him to be known for looking and acting like Jesus. I know that the Christ-life isn't easy and if he chooses to live out a dangerous faith there are no promises that he'll be safe, not even his very life. If that means that others will know the Lord and dive into the adventure called Christianity - then let it be Lord. I, like Hannah, give you back my son. You gave him to me and I will do my very best to train him up in your service.

Lord, give him beautiful feet!

Trouble

Josh and I had a great weekend because some friends of ours come to visit. Brandon Gilky (Gilks) and Garrett Sublette (G-Sub) were roommates of Josh's and were in our wedding. They are both hilarious and I've got pictures to prove it. Here's the story...

They came to Houston for a wedding and stayed two nights with us. Friday night all the guys in the wedding party decided to play paintball and G-sub and Gilks didn't have any clothes that could get dirty so they went to Wal-mart and bought the beautiful sight you see here. Yes, the shirts are white pearl snaps with pink roses and the inner city energy jeans have gold embellishments on the back pockets. The best part is the wave cap that Garrett has on! The normal guy in the middle is "Tuck", another friend from ACU. They had a blast playing paintball and when I asked them what the response was from the other guys Garrett said "They made fun of us until we started shooting all of them." HA. What a great memory. Thanks for coming guys. We love you both and we're thankful you got to meet our son. Come and visit any time. :)

Father's Day

We had a wonderful father's day this past Sunday. Josh did a great job of bringin' the word and Truitt did lots of smiling that day since he was so proud of his father. :) Josh chose enchiladas for lunch and fruit pizza for dessert. YUM! I was so proud of the dessert I took a picture to share with you. If you've never made it you should, it's a great treat and hey, just the fact that it's Tuesday is reason enough to celebrate. :) Enjoy the pictures and have a great week.

Baby Blessing

This past Sunday was great. Rick Ross (Josh's dad) spoke about sacrificial living and added a personal bit about Josh. It brought tears to my eyes. Then Mike Cope did the second part on the community of faith for these babies. What a great morning. Our little T, Reese Cope and Annabelle Montgomery were blessed together. It was so fun! Josh's Parents were able to come.

We have to give a shout out to one of our favorite little guys - HAPPY BIRTHDAY JED! Jed is our nephew. His full name is Jedidiah David Ross. He's Jonathan's son and he turned one last week. He had a pool party on Saturday and of course enjoyed his chocolate cake. :) So cute!

Jenny and Malaya (josh's sister and her daughter) were able to come in for the birthday party as well. The other picture is of Michael Boykin. I love this guy. He's a friend of ours from Houston and he would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He's a true friend. Thank God for family and friends. Enjoy the pictures and have a great week!

Nicknames

Truitt needs your help. He needs a name.

We have all grown up with nick names whether they had to do with our hair color, height, ears or characteristics. Josh's nick name in high school was Josh "the boss" Ross. It stuck and many of his high school and college friends still call him that. I don't know that anyone else in his family has a nick name, but in my family every one has one whether you like it or not.

My oldest brother was called "Rog" during his college days at Tech. This is not pronounced (rawg, but Rog - short for Rogers, our last name) He is the original ROG. Then there's my other brother, Keith that's "Little Rog". As you guessed there's Momma and Papa Rog and finally me, Glowworm Rog. The short story is that I have big ears that stick out from my head and one night I was standing in front of a light and my ears were glowing bright red like a glowworm doll from the 80's, hence the name glowworm Rog. Laugh all you want, I'm over it by now. :) Even those that married in have Rog names. Volunteer Rog (Martha is from TN and she was the first to volunteer to be in our family), Handsy Rog (Amy just couldn't keep her hands off Korey, or so he says) and Rogesus (Josh is so fast he is likened to the greek mythological character Pegusus).

So... Josh and I have come up with some nick names for Truitt and here they are. T, little T, JT, big T, T-dawg and my new favorite - sweet T. We need all the help we can get so chime in and help us out with a new one or vote for your favorite. Have a great week everyone.

Surf's up

Some of our best friends, Adrienne and Nathan DeGodt, bought Truitt this tiny outfit with a surfboard on it when they were in California. Nathan loves to surf so this was the obvious choice. I imagine Truitt's thinking he's on the beach somewhere relaxing with his hands behind his head, listening to the waves.

I know I promised a picture of Truitt on his first Sunday but I didn't get a chance to take a picture until we got home, and by that time he was not happy. He looked adorable and actually had his big blue eyes open when church was over to take in the whole scene. Of course everyone thought he was sooooo cute and plenty of people played with his toes. My fear was that in the middle of a prayer he would let out a loud toot or fill up his diaper for everyone to hear, but the Lord smiled on me this past Sunday and realized that I couldn't have handled that. :) I'm sure it will happen though and we will all laugh and remember it as a great story to share with his future wife. :)

I'm starting to get the hang of getting up in the night. I'm exhausted, but he's worth it. Love you all.

PS. Please post comments if you see the sight. It's open to all, not just those with blog accounts. Oh, and I've got to give a shout out to our friends the Robertson's in New Zealand. We miss you. Troy, you know we call him little T after you. :)

Uncle Rog

That's right, my oldest brother known as "Uncle Rog" (as in short for Rogers) and gang came to visit this weekend. We had so much fun. We fit in a trip to the Water Wall (pictures), BBQ, deep discusion and a morning game of t-ball. I love my brother Korey, his wife Amy, Camden and Maddox. I mean, these kids are ADORABLE! We had fun and I'm so thankful they were able to come and brave staying at our house with a wailing baby in the night. :)

Thanks for coming y'all and I can't wait for you to come back to visit.

** The Water Wall is a fountain that's 64 feet high and spills a 1,000 gallons a minute. Camden loved it and Maddy girl could care less as long as it had stairs to scoot down.
